But it is an issue. Screw 25+ years my dad has more and then some. And from someone that has a person who works in voth 3d art imvu is too dependent on poly heavy 3d objects. Imvu would have to spend more on making a cell phone friendly catalog without lower kbs. And i didn't say i was completely opposed but im sorry if im going to take verizon and Motorola's words when they say they have limitations. Verizon has enough problems with the current ap on iphones and pads. Imcu can't even fix there issues with that or the client even the simple stuff why invite it on the phone?

I have spoken to several people who say as is it's not possible. Imvu has to fix current issues and hire programmers who don't leave massive mem leaks in the coding top that off my 3d certified friends pointes out the problem with imvu's 3d a long time ago by relying on a poly heavy program to make anything look good (3D Max uses way more polies than Light wave blender uses way more than 3D max and sketch up is about even) and you have users who go for what looks cool versus say what a video game does by using low poly presets. As is Imvu will fry a droid. That and the users would bitch at the fact that there moble avatar isn't as pretty as the computer(because people here are vane) so it has nothing to do withe detailed texturing. You can use a high quality texture on wven the crappiest of 3d modeling and it won't kill a graphics card. The polies will. Instead of using 1 square plane for a 6 sided cube (grand total of 6 poly gons) you get some amateur who uses 2 triangles per side (12 polygons) because it looks cool.

Right now a basic functionality app i see no problem with or a mobel friendly site. Having seen droids crashing to the point of extinction because of bad app software and given imvu's software track record i do not want an over priced paperweight. And i have seen imvu melt the battery in a brand new iphone. It blue screened (or the equivalent there of) my fiancée's ipad. Imvu has to fix what it has now before porting ANYTHING.

I know I'm a bit late on this, but I have to tell you. I actually bought my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S2), believing that their MUST BE a client for it! Imagine my frustration, when several years after Android is out, when every client on the planet, has made it on, and there are soooo many accomplished and brilliant 3D apps on Android, that there is still no app..WHY?? Are IMVU actually trying to go bust, or have they been sleeping or on holiday for the last 5 years?

iPhone 'apps' have been every business's essential exposure (sadly, even companies that really didn't need an app), and over the last couple of years, Android use has been growing almost exponentially. One simply can't have missed this.

You are right.

The problem is, most people try to put Android phones and iPhone on the same pedestal.

However, thats false because high end Android mobiles have some hardcore processing power as compared to iPhones.

They are well above the minimum system requirements of IMVU with inbuilt HD graphics cards for powerful rendering. Android currently supports quality applications for 3D modelling. A few years ago the "full client" may not have been feasible but at current scenario, this is very much possible.

Was reading up on the DROID on droidforums.com who are users of the DROID. Hardware issues popped up regularly when charging and using anything graphically intense for more than an hour including GPS functions or intensive games. People reporting their DROID phones (new and old) reaching temps of 120° F just running the gps because of the stock programming and not because of faulty products. So i guess hardware really should be taken into consideration. There were aslo issues on overclocked non stock program droids and temp problems.

Every computer company and phone company state that when developing a new game ore program you have to know what the hardware can handle that is why there are minimum system requirements not just os requirements. DROID phones average 1 gig of ram of memory IMVU requires a minimum of 2. So unlessyou void your warranty to ad more to it right now IMVU won't be possible.

You can find out more about your DROID phone's factual capabilities and hardware info at droidforums.com or just google droid forums.

I keep telling people I'm not opposed to this app in the future but a lot of people don't really take into consideration that while programming will handle things its not the only thing to take into consideration. If a bumch of other across nation and country (some posters are in Canda) are having heat and battery discharge problems because of apps then i guess i had the right assumption to take in what my phone can do as a whole not just as an os or a Linux based program.

IMVU is getting bigger and more popular every day. If IMVU wanted to make herself bigger, better, more popular and way more used then things like this should have happened Along time ago. IMVU on Android would be really cool and useful. Besides Android is competing with the Mac in the market so they're almost the same expect Mac is a bit more popular at the moment.
And While you guys are working on this plzzzz make IMVU on other devices like Xbox, PlayStation 3 and even the Wii. I'm 100% sure it'll make IMVU way better because some people don't get on the internet and look for chats like IMVU, but when IMVU gets Apps all over those Devices ppl will see them when they search the market for Apps.

Man, I just want to talk to my buddies in the rooms they're ACTUALLY in, no imvu2go coffee shop thing.

I don't care if I'm just a cellphone hovering around at the entrance in their view or if I'm just seeing a chat box of text.

And they wouldn't care either. We are more than just pretty avatars.

Well that was DAMN silly.
I have an old imvu prepaid card laying around, the last thing I bought / ever will buy from imvu, just waiting for a promo. (pfffft, now the promo only gives 5000c? You kidding? Lol)

So, grumbling, I go to the field to type in the number for it... Nothin'. Just an empty bar.

I tried gettin' tricky by typing the code elsewhere and copy/pasting it in... Nope.
It remains blank.

I had to go next door and borrow my neighbor's computer real quick.

So yeah... Imvu -really- hates Android apparently... So much so you're not even supposed to BUY from them from an Android?!?.

For those who feel IMVU is too much for Android consider this, recently an app for a 3D chat service similar to Second Life appeared called Jibe. Though currently under testing (alpha or beta I forget) you can login and chat. Features are limited since they only testing. I have used it with 5 people in the world at once with no lag, no hangups, all good on 3G, 4G, an WiFi (sprint 3G and 4G and comcast wifi). We don't need a full IMVU on android just an IMVU2GO clone. Even Second Life has allegedly started hiring Android developers. The hardware on android phones get more powerful with every new phone and Android OS being open means no software limitations either. This could happen, IMVU just needs to do it.

Ok. Make up your mind guys. Everyone says andriod and people naming black berries berries other non andriod phones. Imvu has only made the iphone application.
If they do it ok in andriod thats good. Theyre not going to make an app just for some non popular phone. They'd go and put the andriod because more people have it and ors more popular.

C'mon IMVU, where's our Android client?

Virtually all mid-range and even some low-range Android smartphones have enough grunt to theoretically run the "full" version of IMVU reasonably well (remember, I'm speaking theoretically...), so why we still don't have a "mobile" IMVU client for Android is beyond me...

Edit: And here's a video proving that it's possible to run the "full" version of IMVU under Android!

Nicely done btw CybaCowboy, however, let me point something out real quick... That youtube video which shows a tablet being able to run a full version of imvu is using an android remote desktop application. Which means, that the tablet is only viewing remotely what someone elses computer is seeing. That does "not" mean that the tablet(s) can handle the graphic computing power it takes to run IMVU. Infact, from my own opinion and observation of the graphics involved in IMVU, it would take an enormous amount of power and gpu for a tablet to be able to handle and lets face it, most tablets wont stay charged longer then 30 minutes with imvu running directly on it and if imvu was to able run directly on it and you tried keeping the tablet plugged in, you would probably just ruin the tablets main battery over prolonged use in that manner.
Now, the good part about what CybaCowboy pointed out is that you "Can" remotely view your own desktop for "free" using an android remote desktop application in the google play market. Many tablets will be able to use this program. But, you have to install the main part of your program on your own pc. Which, may sound hard, but its not for us computer geeks. You will want to look into a program called "teamviewer". This program you will install to your pc and then install the android app of teamviewer to your android tablet. Please understand, there are many other remote desktop programs, but they may cost. Be advised, there are some pros and cons going this route:

Pros:
1) Yes, you can use IMVU on your android tablet
2) Yes, you can zoom in and out and around and click on areas within your rooms and your inventory (Just tap twice and hold).
3) Yes, as long as you use WIFI, it will be extremely fast, depending on your wifi connection and the cpu powering speed of your tablet.
4) Yes, it is freaking awesome, because i am superman and hear me rawr. jk

Cons:
1) You can't hear sound
2) Anything you see or do on your tablet will cause whatever action on your own desktop back at home.
3) Its buggy and sometimes slowly in spurts, depending on your connection and can force you to click on undesirable actions.
4) You have to leave your computer on at home while your away using the tablet.
5) If your desktop computer crashes, while your not home, nothing you can do about it till you get back home.
6) You may have to turn down the graphics in the teamviewer settings to enhance the speed, this can lead to the graphics being less pretty on imvu viewing it through the tablet.
7) This will not work on a cell phone, as your cell phone probably wont have enough power to render the connection. But, you can try lol.
Cool You need a very fast freaking tablet for this to work.

As for whether they can integrate imvu as an app on google android. Probably... However, even if or when they do, it will be a dumbed down version of it. It won't be worth the battery power and it will probably lead to massive overheating issues of cell phones and tablets. However, there is an idea that I will throw out there. It is however possible to create a IMVU server ran desktop environment for each user. That means that, IMVU would host the IMVU program itself on their own servers, and a user would login to their account online and IMVU corps own servers will handle the main GPU. So, in a sense, IMVU could create a remote desktop experience using the same means of teamviewer or any remote desktop control application available today. IMVU could create a very basic slimlined version using windows servers, and each person would have their own account tied into these remote desktop accounts. So, when a person signs in on their android device or iphone, it would sign them into their own private online remote cloud desktop. The users only ability is to be able to run IMVU remotely from the IMVU corporate location. So, this would keep users android devices GPU and CPU down to a very little power consumption if any as IMVU's own servers would handle to grunt work.

Anyways, best regards,
njbsuperman
